Executive Board Meeting

 

February 09, 2010

Call to order 6:45pm by Bill Powers, President

Present: Bill Powers, Karen Gilbert, Louise Iron, Heather Martin, Coach Reneau, Terry Rychel, Donna Bruton, Karen Marshall

 

The Board discussed the following regarding the Alabama trip:

a.     The teams will enjoy a Dolphin cruise on Sunday. The price for the cruise is $400.00 for 50 people. Afterwards, everyone will have dinner at the Oyster House.
b. Discussed rooms needed: 3 girls, 3 boys, 1 food, and 1 driver.
            c. Discussed Terry Rychel, Heather Martin, Karen Marshall for girls rooms,
Donna Ingram and Judy in the food room along with Bill Powers.
d.     Bill Powers shared a copy of the menu and is planning to shop for the food in Gulf Shores.
e.      A debit card was issued in Bill PowerÕs name for purchasing during the trip.
f.      Heather Martin and Linda Horkey will provide goodie bags for the girls.
g.      Bill Powers and Donna Bruton will provide goodie bags for the boys.
h.     Coach Reneau will order the Gulf Shores T-Shirts for the team.
i.       Discussed the players who will receive assistance for the trip.
j.       Karen Gilbert and Karen Marshall will collect balance due from the players Tuesday February 16, 2010 and Friday February 19, 2010 during 7th hour.

Bus will be leaving Memorial High School at 7:00 pm February 24, 2010.

Charger Cup:

a.     The Charger Cup is scheduled for March 23 Ð 27, 2010.
Tuesday, Thursday, Friday games at Memorial
Saturday games at Metro Christian Academy
b.     We will have a meeting before the Charger cup to determine the volunteer
Schedule and the hospitality room at Memorial.
c.     Discussed purchasing tickets from concessions at Metro for referees in place of a hospitality room.
d.     Terry Rychel, the Volunteer Coordinator will call and email parents for volunteering.

Season Passes

a.     Season Passes will not be sold this season.

Banquet
           
a.      Suggested restaurants were: Silver Flame, The Blue Dome, and Interurban
b.      Suggested dates: May 13, 2010 May 18, 2010 May 20, 2010

 

Senior Night

            Senior night will be held during the last game April 20, 2010 (vs. Booker T)

 

Board Members, please be thinking about next year replacements for the Board for consideration at the year end meeting.

The Executive Board met to review the new By Laws, Alabama trip, fundraising, general meeting, and Freshman representative still needed.

 

  1. The Board reviewed the By Laws with the new changes that were made.
  2. The By Laws will be voted upon at the general meeting Monday December 14, 2009.
  3. The new positions of Secretary and Volunteer Coordinator will be voted and approved at the general meeting Monday, December 14, 2009.

Memorial High School Soccer Website:

      

1.     The President will be responsible for the management and content of the team

2.     The website will keep everyone updated on meeting info, Alabama trip, hoodies,

t-shirts, names of the Board Members, pictures, schedules, etc.

       3.   The website will be a great place for the parents and students alike to stay   

             informed.

 

Alabama Trip

 

1.     The entry fee and the condo deposits have been made.

2.     Board Members will have the first choice to be a sponsor for the Alabama Trip.

3.     This is a Booster Club (approved by TPS) activity not a school sponsored trip.

4.     Fundraising has been made available to raise money for this trip (cookie dough).

5.     Hardship requests that will be considered  must have shown an effort to raise

money with the fundraising opportunities made available.

        6.  Contract being considered for students to sign in agreement to follow all rules.

        

Fundraising Ideas

 

1.     Cookie Dough Sales Ð

2.     T-Shirts - Hoodies   - Will be purchased thru the Memorial Book Store.

Prepay your order.  Colors:  red-blue same logo as last year.

3.     Banners coming up Ð more money seemed to be raised when the players called.

4.     February 14 fundraiser being looked into.

5.     Mexican League Banners Ð look into charging additional $$ for banners to be displayed thru season (not just weekends)

6.     Check with Union, BA, Jenks, Booker T, Bishop KellyÕs soccer booster clubs for additional fundraising ideas.

7.     Krispy Kreme Ð pre order doughnuts Ð pick up at school

8.     Sponsor Letters for donations

9.     Bingo Pizza Night

10.  Draw Alumni with activities thru the year

11.  Cleaning ORU stadium

 

Coaches

 

1.     Still need Girls Roster Ð girlÕs names, phone, and emails please!

2.     Freshman Rep needed

 

Karen Gilbert is looking into an adopter for Memorial High School Soccer.

 

Parents are encouraged to assist with games and the Charger Cup.

 

The Volunteer Coordinator will contact by email two weeks in advance, then one week in advance reminders of field duty and other duties you may need a reminder of.
